2011 Feile Competition

The 2011 Féile na nGael  handball will take place in Galway from 24th to 26th June 2011Handball Competition:
There will be competition at 40x20 (boys and girls) and 60x30
(boys only).
1. A team will consist of 5 players – 2 doubles plus 1substitute
2. Team in order of play to be supplied to the referee before
each match ( the order of play may be changed for second or
subsequent matches )
3. Each pair to play one game to 21 aces with points for each
win. First serve is decided on the toss of a coin. The team
receiving in the first game will have the first service in the
second game.
4. When two or more teams in a group tie on points, the
placings are decided on the total aggregate aces. Where
aggregate aces are equal, a play-off to 11 aces between any
pair from each side will decide the placings. First service will be
decided on the toss of a coin.
5. In the case of a tie in any semi-final (where semi-finals are
played) or final, rules as in 4 above apply.
6. While standard handball playing rules apply in Féile, a
specific Discipline/Complaints procedure is in place. A further
communication will issue on this shortly.
7. Teams must wear club colours in all games unless requested
to change by the referee when colours clash.
Further details will issue to clubs on the composition of
Divisions and location of games.
Times of games: Games will be played on Friday afternoon
and Saturday with the finals on Sunday morning.
Grading: To ensure fair play and the integrity of the
competition, it is critical that those deciding on the grading of
the teams are fully informed of the achievements of each of the
players taking part. Responsibility for this rests with the Club
and the County Secretary who are required to sign off on the
material supplied in Form B. It is obviously important that each
player’s most significant achievements are highlighted such as
All-Ireland or Provincial success, including team events.
Number and location of alleys: Twelve 40x20 alleys have been
identified as follows: Moycullen, Micheal Breathnach (Inverin),
St Mary’s (2)(Galway City), Salthill (3), Annaghadown,
Williamstown, Ballinasloe, Abbeyknockmoy and Carnmore.
